Where would be the best area to stay in Rome during January?

Posted by admin

Im going for a 4 day break with my girlfriend to Rome this coming January. Ofcourse we want to see all the sites of Rome, but we would alos like to be close to the nightlife, not hard core clubs, just some nice chilled out bars and nice restraunts. Not into the whole trendy thing, just a place that might be popluar with younger people, the backpacker type!….Thanks in advance!

Your best bet would be areas like Campo de Fiori and in particular Piazza di Campo de Fiori (the main square), Navona, Pantheon and then most definitely the Trastevere area.

The nightlife is really what you want it to be, in the sense that there are many chilled pubs, plenty of restaurants, a nice atmosphere and after 12 a good selection of (but not so hectic) pubs and cocktail bars.
Bear in mind that the Italians are in any case a laid back nation. You will very rarely see alcohol abuse or aggression (unless you plan on going to see some soccer games).

Rome is very trendy any place you go, the Italians dress up to go grocery shopping! You will only escape that by visiting some of the numerous more laid back Irish pubs, but that may limit your cultural experience.
