Anxious traveler help… 7 days until Rome!?

Posted by admin

Hi, I am about to go on holiday to Rome and I am getting anxious. I know how lucky I am to even be going on holiday and I've wanted to go to Rome for years, but I still freeze up when I think about it. I'm not scared about anything in particular but just being somewhere that isn't home. Plus I haven't been anywhere (but the UK) for 7 years!

Does anyone have any tips on how to keep calm and stave off the anxiety while traveling.

Oh, and it's not the plane ride at all.

Thanks

You might want to visit the local library or bookstores and pick up some guidebooks to Rome. Plan the things you'd like to see and do while you're here. Rome is very easy to get around in and you shouldn't have any problems at all. When you're actually here, there are enough things to see and do that just keeping busy should alleviate any anxiety. Italy is a wonderful place with lots of very nice people, great food and interesting things to see. You'll have a great time.

how long do I have to spend in Rome/Florence/Milan/Venice?

Posted by admin

hi everyone.

I want to travel around Italy. Unfortunately it's a very short holiday. I have 5 days and I plan to travel around Rome, Florence, Milan and Venice.

Is there any tips for me on how many days do I have to spend in each city? I think it's gonna be a short and quick visit to each city.

thank you..

To begin with you should definitely cut out Milan and Venice. Milan is just a shopping center and even though it does have a lot of history with the short amount of time it is not worth it. Venice is beautiful but it is too far away from everywhere else (same with Milan) and it is just humidity, pigeons, and a billion tourists (again not much to see compared to Florence and Rome).
If you could I would recommend travelling at night so you do not waste your precious day time (in a train I'm guessing?).
Now, Florence and Rome… assuming you DO travel at night I would recommend getting to Florence first and visiting the main things: Uffizi Museum, Ponte Vecchio, Campanile, Battistero and Duomo. So arrive, do some touring in one of those places, stay there overnight, finish looking at those places and then that night travel to get to Rome. Then when you are in Rome you have to use as much of your time as you can.
The key of this trip is to have it 100% organized so you don't waste time. And by 100% I mean know which streets you're going to walk through and everything. Also, I would recommend knowing if there are any activities you would like to attend in those places like festivals or anything. Those help you get more in touch with the culture and the people.

I wish you the best of luck and hope you have a fantastic trip!! And of course, I hope you have another chance to travel to Italy under more relaxed circumstances
:-)
