when is the best time to go to Paris and Rome to avoid tourists?
Posted by admin
I need to know the ideal time to visit Paris and Rome without running into the crowds. What time of year is best to go to these places?
You'll never completely escape crowds in either city. The best trade-off between crowds and weather here (I live in Italy) is either before tourist season gets into full swing (May- the first half of June) or after the end of the season (September-Oct).
However, there are lots of interesting things to see and do throughout the year and some can only be experienced at particular times. For example, the Eurochocolate Festival in Perugia is a huge event toward the end of October or there's a very good truffle festival in the small Tuscan hill town San Miniato over three weekends in November. Carnevale is for the most part celebrated in the winter - February next year.

I went in the first week in November. Paris was a bit chilly but with a light coat just fine. Rome was actually still a bit warm, considering where i live in the world. I would highly suggest any time towards the end of Oct. and early November. We went up north of Paris to Holland too, it was quite cold up there at this time, oh well, live and learn.

I was in Paris and Rome in the second week of last month. Crowds were not a problem at all but there were still enough people around. You dont want it to be completly empty, thats BORING.
The weather was AMAZING and PERFECT in Rome, Paris was chilly but not uncomfortable.
Il go back in May again because i think it was the very best time of the year to travel.
Have fun

I recommend September or early October for both. It's not too hot and the locals are at work and those tourists who have to take holidays in July-August would have left.
